Sony MDR EX71SL WK Fontopia Headphones White

Sony MDR EX71SL WK Fontopia Headphones White

Please note: the newest version of these headphones available are the Sony MDR EX71SLA Fontopia Bud Style Headphones.

The Sony Fontopia Headphones combine an in-ear design with the supply of premium sound and superior bass to your ears. The white design accented by silver and gray fits well with your iPod but can also works just fine with other portable audio players. Fontopia’s 9 mm drivers provide a comfortable fit and sonic isolation through soft silicone earbuds. Meanwhile, an L-shaped gold-plated mini plug ensures the smooth transmission of your stereo’s sound. Three different sizes of earbuds are included to accommodate different ear sizes, and you’ll also find an ultra-high-power neodymium magnet, a hard carrying case, a 1-meter extension cord, and an earbud holder in the package.

User Ratings and Reviews

2 Stars Sound is great, reliability is crap
The sound quality of these headphones is great. Bass is deeper than you would expect. The reliability is terrible. I went through three sets of these headphones in less than 6 months, each time the left earphone went out. I would recommend the Sennheiser CX300 instead.

4 Stars Great sound, better than Shure SE110
The sound coming out of these phones are excellent, good for electronic and rock music. Clear bass and mids. The unfortunate thing is that the rubber glued to the buds eventually lose their grip and begin peeling off after over a ear or 2’s use. The sound quality is much better than Sure’s SE110, and half the price. The rubber tips do a decent isolation job for the price. You will still hear subway noise, but it’ll be 7-15% less bothersome compared to earphones that don’t go in your ear.

4 Stars Short cable design-awesome for iPhone/Shur MusicPhoneAdapter
For those of us, now many millions, with an iPhone, this short cable is a godsend. When used in combination with a Shure Music Phone Adapter, or any other adapter of this type, the length of the cable attached to the headphones is awesome. It has an offset design. From the bridle, the left side is only about 4″, while the right is about 18″. Some complain that the offset in length creates a differential in the audio. Do the math people, the time delay due to cable length is microscopic. The ability to use either one of the earphones to talk on the phone while the other one lasily drapes around your neck out of the way is perfect. I had a pair of V-Moda Vibes with the built in mic, and although they were nice in some ways, I was forced to use the right earphone because the microphone was on that side, and the left one was in the way all the time as it hung down to my belly button or lower. Could you still put the whole thing behind your head to avoid this? No, the microphone is on the right branch, and would be behind your head instead of near your mouth. That of course will not work. The design of the Sony is awesome when used as described above.

Since my iPhone is really the only device I use these on, I love them. Sony has now discontinued this model, and I may have to buy up 2 or 3 pairs just to have them. My first pair I have been using about 2 years, and the left speaker has degraded quite significantly and only produces about 20% of the original volume. The replacement Sony has made is the 76. That model has a Y style cable, where the lengths from the bridle are even, and that will give me the same headaches as the Vibes did, except for the microphone thing as the Shure device provides that functionality.

I also like the sound quality from these. Is it the best thing out there, of course not, but if you listen mostly to Rock and Heavy Metal like I do, at age 40 by the way, they produce sufficient bass and are far better in that respect than the V-Modas. Is the total range the best, again not really, but I have found it acceptable. They certainly blow the iPod headphones out of the water. If you don’t need the split cable, buy the 51’s or 55’s now as they are, as I’ve read, the same earphone but without the two piece cable. However, if you have the same configuration I have, and are looking for a decent earphone, that won’t leave you with 3′ of cable bundled up next to your music phone adapter, these may be the ticket. Better buy two while they last.

1 Star Horrible
I purchased these for my iphone and quickly realized that they were garbage. I did homework and read reviews and these were supposedly better than a pair that I had heard (which I liked). Not even close. The volume level was low, static when connector moved around, and overall sound was just not good. I’m not sure if all of these are the same, but the pair I got was horrible.

5 Stars Nice earbuds.
I can’t justify paying several hundred dollars on earbuds. That being said, I own two pairs of headphones, these and Sony MDR-V700DJ DJ Style Monitor Series Headphones. These fit nicely and have decent sound.

5 Stars The Best I’ve found for travel
I’ve gone through so many headphones, particularly ones that I keep in my gym bag, for workouts, dozens and dozens… until I found these. I just, after about three years, destroyed the set I had– the wire dangled outside my rear car door and got ripped as I drove the car. It took that much abuse to do an iota of damage to them. Even then, only the cord was torn. These are incredibly sturdy and the sound is superb. The cord is pretty special too. It’s a different kind of material, so it’s less likely to kink or get tangled. I’m writing this review because I’m thrilled to find they’re still available. I’m buying three more. An extra backup and one for my better half.

4 Stars Decent headphones no complaints
These headphones sound good, they are lightweight and are fairly inexpensive. The band goes around the neck so it is much more hidden than normal headphones. I have had no problems with them.

5 Stars Good sound, comfortable
These headphones have good sound quality. They fit comfortably behind the head. They have a lot less pressure than the over the head type headphones. The neckband does not get in the way of eyeglasses, but it does push glasses into your head. After using them for a while, the become very uncomfortable if wearing glasses. Probably best for people who don’t use glasses.

5 Stars Very comfortable, sound quite decent
I just received these headphones a couple of days ago, and based on some of the more negative reviews I wanted to see how comfortable they are for a whole day before commenting.

Well, I guess I can say that I can get used to these no problem. There is a slight discomfort after a day (I use them at work at my desk, typical cubicle nation usage), but I had the same with my MDR-Q33’s (clip around the ear) for the first couple of days as well. A couple of weeks into using them every day I couldn’t even tell anymore that I had them on. I loved my old Q33’s and would have bought another pair if I could still find them anywhere. The old Q33’s have a metal jacket around the earphone wires, and my right ear is getting shocked every so often now from a short when plugged in. The newer Sony versions of this style have much thinner pieces going behind the ear now, so I decided to give the street style a try.

The sound – I have to say that they sound great for me. I compared them to the old Q33, and these sound defintely more crisp (highs) and defined (base). I can see though that for other folks there might be an issue sound-wise depending on ear size and head size (I have a relatively small head and very small ears) and how close you get the actual speakers to your ears. The bars are resting on top of my ears, with the connecting piece just hanging in mid air behind my head, which seems fine. All in all I am very happy with this purchase and would defintely recommend anybody to try them out.

4 Stars good but not perfect
Bought this pair of headphones about 6 months back. The headphones are good but not perfect. They look good and the sound quality is good too for such a low price. I use the headphones rough and are normally stored in the front pocket of my backpack. They lasted long (none of my prev. headphones lasted more than 2-3 months) and I’m still using them.

I wear spectacles and at first they were a little uncomfortable around my ears but now I got used to them. One major irritant is the v-shaped frame. It doesn’t sit properly at the back of the head and frequently touches the collar of my shirt. I have to readjust them every time the frame falls down between my neck and the shirt collar.

Overall, 4/5 . Good sound, nice looking, durable but with few drawbacks.

User Ratings and Reviews

3 Stars To small
I bought the Sony Cybershot DSC-W300. The strap is on the side of the camera, so you have to force the camera down into the case. SO I don’t think this case fits to all of the cameras in the W series.

3 Stars Stylish, lacks basic things.
Good Quality leather case, but does not covers the camera fully, it doesn’t procted your camera from drizzles.

Tight!!! Had to squeeze in my W-Series camera.

Also there is good chance that you might loose while shooting pics.

I would not recomend it. Not worth the price.

3 Stars nickfarro
Good but a little too tight when camera is inserted. The durability of the belt loop appears a little suspect.

5 Stars A Nice & Stylish case to protect & carry Sony DSE-T 300
A very good case to protect Sony DSC-T 300 Camera for storing as well as traveling. The idea of the loop (for belt pass thru) keeps hands free during travel at the same time providing safe storage for the camera when not in use. The magnetic closure is neat & offers smart & clean look. The quality of leather is excellent in tune with the expensive camera. One would not feel shy in carrying this case.

5 Stars Fits Perfect..Nice Leather
I really like this cake. Its a perfect fit and the leather is very nice. The case comes with a hook on back so you don’t have to always carry it.

5 Stars Perfect for the gym
I’ve owned these headphones for about a year now and am still just as pleased with them as I was when I first got them. I wear them to the gym and when I go running outdoors. They are super comfortable–I hardly remember I’m wearing them–and the sound quality is actually really good. I have no complaints and would recommend these headphones to anyone.

1 Star In Stock? I DON’T THINK SO!
I purchased this product…twice. The first time, after it didn’t arrive, I contacted Brainstorm corporation and they told me it was out of stock. They refunded my money. A couple weeks later I found it on Amazon under what I thought was a different seller. Turned out is was Brainstorm again…and once again, after contacting them, they informed me it was out of stock and refunded my money. Why do they continue to list it here as IN STOCK? Look at the reviews. The last one before mine is from 2007!

4 Stars Word great!
These earphones work much better than the ones that came with my ipod. They are a little large for my ears but still they work fine.

3 Stars Average Comfort, Decent Sound
Product is adequate for the money. I tried them for use while I sleep, which is what I bought them for, but found them uncomfortable. The sound is pretty good, though.

5 Stars Should’ve Been Sooner
I love these headphones and they don’t fall out of my ears.

Comfort and sound transmission is also great.

Shipping was fast almost the next day.
